Train with K9 Nose USA

The first class in the Scent work Training Series, Introduction to Scent Work is a small group class (Maximum 5) to ensure you and your canine companion receive plenty of instruction and sniffing time!  

A starter "odor imprinting tin" is included to continue training & practice at home.

Class includes: 

Odor Imprinting   -  Indication   -   Search Drive   -   Odor Discrimination

This class will introduce you and your canine companion to the various search elements and   Rules for AKC (American Kennel Club)  and USCSS (United States Canine Scent Sports). Maximum Class size: (5)

Class includes:

• Level appropriate searches using 1-2 Odors (Birch and /or Anise); Handler Scent Novice-Advanced.
• Introduction to AKC & USCSS Search Elements: Containers; Buried; Interior; Exterior, Vehicles and Handler Discrimination.
• Working through distractions &  effective handling techniques.
• Preparation and handling of target odors.

A travel sized odor kit is available for purchase at the first class.

This class builds on previous training and experience, helping canine & handler scent work teams to reach their maximum potential!  Maximum Class size: (5)

Class may include but is not limited to: 

• Odor Theory ( understanding how scent molecules behave based on environmental influences including airflow, humidity, and temperature )
• Level appropriate searches using 1 - 10 (or more)  hides (Birch, Anise, Clove, Cypress). 
• Searching "blank" areas.
• Skill Building Games: Distance; Speed; Endurance; Distractions
• Solving "odor puzzles" : Pooling odor;  elevated hides;  inaccessible hides;  converging odor.
• Effectively navigating multiple search areas, time management, observation skills and when to call "Finish".

For more personalized attention, we offer Private (1 handler & 1 dog) or Semi-Private (1 handler & 2 dogs; 2 handlers & 2 dogs) training sessions.   1 Hour or 30 minute sessions available. 

Our trainer(s) will work with you and your dog one-on-one to address specific needs and goals!
